OpenAI launched a “ChatGPT agent” for paid users that combines its previous tools Operator and Deep Research, enabling the chatbot to complete complex tasks such as ordering clothing for an event. The agent uses a virtual computer that can browse the web and connect to apps like Gmail and GitHub.
Meta Platforms appointed Shengjia Zhao, a co‑creator of ChatGPT and former OpenAI researcher, as chief scientist of its new Superintelligence Lab. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Zhao will set the research agenda and scientific direction for the lab, which aims to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI) and open‑source the results. Zhao joins other former OpenAI researchers in what analysts call a talent “arms race” between Meta and its rivals.
